I received a similar letter about a year or so ago that i didn't respond to (may have been a different company, may have been the same).
I assume they are contacting me about a specific debt from many years ago, as this is the only debt i am aware of that i have not dealt with. The last time i talked to any company about this debt would have been in 2008 or before. But definitely not after October 2008. This i know for fact. I believe i made a payment or two in 2008 (again nothign after October 2008), but haven't paid anything since. I can't remember if there was a CCJ made in regards to this debt, but that would have been over 10 years ago if there was one.
Can any of you fine folks tell me where i stand with this and what course of action, if any, i should take in regards to it?

If they are after what you think, then is likely statute barred given what you have posted.
To be honest though, unless they can be bothered to wrote properly setting out exactly what they are after then I can't see any point in responding in any way.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks for the quick response! Would the fact there may have been a CCJ in regards to this debt make any difference? This CCJ would have happened prior to 2004. The reason i say might, is that it was so long ago, back when i was more than al ittle careless with my money. so i can't remember if the CCJ i had at the time was in regards to this debt or another that i have long since cleared.0

Well a CCJ would prevent it being statute barred.
On the other hand if they haven't bothered to try to enforce it in over 6 years then the courts own rules mean they could only do so with permission, which they are unlikely to get.
See the explanation here.

Advice is generally to ignore unless a specific debt, name etc is mentioned, it sound like a fishing trip to me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
