Hi,
I was wondering what things I can have taken off my wages before they are paid to me, just to help me budjet better. I am planning on getting a health scheme from simply health put on but I was wondering if there was anything else.
I know some people have finance deals for there cars which can come off but is there anything else?
Many thanks
Joe

Some schemes are salary sacrifices. A lease car scheme I think is what the OP meant - this is provided by the employer.
For a deduction to be made it has to be an authorised scheme offered by the trust. I doubt that health care is part of this.
For a full comprehensive list I would suggest you contact your payroll department (Or Shared Business Services) and ask them directly. It is all dependent on the trust - the only other deductions that would be able to come off would be an attachment of earnings0 -

Well it is believed the former head of the NHS in England used private health facilities, which didn't show a great deal of faith in the Service he was heading up.0 -

Yes - but the question asked was how to put in place a private healthcare payment and car finance through salary sacrifice from his NHS salary - I am not aware of such a scheme within the NHS.There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who do not. :doh:0 -
Simply Health is not a private health care scheme, it's the new name for what was the Hospital Saturday Fund whereby members get re-imbursed for optician/dentist/podiatry fees, etc and payments for hospital stays. This scheme is paid for directly from your salary, but not as a salary sacrifice. Lease cars can be via a salary sacrifice and our trust has now started offering technology (TVs, computers and smart phones to name a few) via a salary sacrifice scheme, although the final prices are eye wateringly expensive. There are also tax implications as these schemes are classed as a benefit and your tax code is reduced to reflect this.

I am suitably enlightened although the economics do not look promising! There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who do not. :doh:0 -
The economics are not promising! I speak from experience with regards to the car lease. My Mini Countryman had me reducing my salary by £415 a month which meant that I paid tax/NI/pension on my salary-£415 so it worked out that my car's actual cost to me was approximately £349 a month BUT my tax code went from 1010L to 153L so I ended up paying a lot more tax. Also, you are only really renting the car so after 36 months of paying £349, you have to give the car back so have nothing to show for it. And you can be billed for wear and tear above what is deemed fair and any mileage over whatever was initially agreed. The other thing to bear in mind is that if you leave your employment for whatever reason such as a better job/redundancy/sacked you are liable for an early termination fee which is 3/2/1 months payments depending on how many years in you are - and as no one has guaranteed employment any more, it can be a risky scheme. Needless to say, I would not consider it again as it really isn't value for money.0
