Dealing with missed wins :(

Any advice on dealing with missed wins? :(

I entered a competition on capital this morning - texted my answer and they would call back someone to give their answer on air to win a 4K TV, Singstar and PS4. I knew the answer and texted it in, pulled over to get petrol and missed the call as I was paying, I rung back and they told me they couldn't put me through to the studio and I would need to wait to be called back.

An hour later I've not been called, so assuming that as I was on the phone getting into my car they were probably giving it away to another caller.

Absolutely gutted - any advice on dealing with missed wins as I'm beating myself up here, and hoping fellow compers can understand!!!! :(

Wins : McCains garden games set, 2xTickets to Alton Towers, Links of London friendship bracelet, 2xIdeal Home Show tickets, McFly album CD, Virgin Balloon flight for 2 with a case of ScrumpyJack cider and 2 ltd edition jackets, Powerboat racing experience, £50 Virgin voucher, Aerobie Pro flying ring & Rice Krispie squares, Tesco baby pack

  • That sounds rubbish, my advice, I know its easier said than done but try and forget about it, you never know there may have been a reason you never got to take that call, maybe its fates way of telling you something bigger and better is on its way :A

You probably would have lost out if you had been driving and answered it anyway

All entrants will be required to talk to the presenter/s and a call will be recorded with the presenter/s and played on-air. If entrants fail to answer their phone, are driving, or if any fault occurs immediately prior to or during these calls and it is not possible to re-establish contact with the caller, another contestant will be selected at random.

Thanks guys, sorry I should have been clearer - my phone was in my bag, not left in the car, but just couldn't get to it in time for paying.

Thanks for the advice, need to stop beating myself up over it!

  • When I've listened to comps on Radio stations they often have several callers lined up and then pick a line ... often there is nobody on the line (probably because they can't wait any longer) so they go to the next one. Im thinking maybe they would have lined you up with several other callers anyway.

Im sort of hoping that makes you feel a bit better crazyangel but probably not.:(

Your not allowed to use a mobile in a petrol station anyway?

It definitely does, thank you! The way they do the show is that they just say they have "Sarah" on the line etc, and seeing as you text in the answer I assumed they'd call one person back who got it correct - but I'm sure you are right, and that does help as hopefully they called a few to hang on the line. Thanks!
