Unpaid Mobile Contract - Pls Advice

I was in UK for about 4 years as a student and left the UK in 2008 as my visa expired. When leaving I took a several mobile phones and laptops on contract basis to give them as gifts to my friends and relatives. I did not pay a single installment. (I am very disappointing about this now and I had not money left at that time to buy those). Now I want to migrate to Canada and want to get a UK police clearance.
I am worrying whether this is considered as a fraud and hence having a criminal record. ( As I took those with intention of not paying back).

As it was your intent to defraud the companies, then yes. However, whether it is recorded as such anywhere is a different matter.
The companies would need to have reported it as fraud, rather than just another punter failing to pay their bills.
Is it a family tradition to give stolen gifts as presents?0 -
I understand that this should have not happened. That is one unfortunate event happened in the past and I am very disappointing on that.
Please understand the situation I am in now and give your advice.0 -
Alen, as has been stated it is very unlikely that it has been reported as fraud. It will be a negative mark on your credit file but will not be on a UK Police report unless these companies have marked it as such. Unfortunately until you apply there is no way of knowing.0

Thanks.
I obtained one police report in 2012 Dec for a different purpose. and there was no any record there. Generally how long companies take to report them. Is it possible to record it as a fraud even after 4 years (since I left UK in Dec-20018).
If there is a record what would happen If I return to UK (for a short period), Will the arrest me at immigration?0 -
I would say it is unlikely to have now been reported for fraud and unlikely that you would be arrested at immigration. Please bear in mind that this is not legal advice.0

Why would we want to help you to feel better?
You should be ashamed of your actions - not 'disappointed'.:hello:0 -
Dissapointed? You should feel ashamed.
Essentially you walked into mobile phone shops and shoplifted the items. I hope your relatives liked their stolen goods
You are a criminal - whether or not it has been recorded as such will be down to the shop
Maybe stop yourself next time you decide to give people expensive gifts you can't afford.I am a Mortgage Adviser
