Being on a fixed term contract and getting a mortgage....

I've been at my current employer since March 2012, so around 2 years and 8 months. I started in a permanent role and in June 2014 (2 years 3 months into employment) I was promoted to a new role within the organisation but my contract changed from permanent to a fixed term contract (12 months).
My contract will 100% be getting renewed in June 2015 for another 6-12 months (and most likely every year going forward until it is made into a permanent role) but I know this is no guarantee to a lender so I want to know what impact (if any) this will have on me being able to get a mortgage.
We've got a 15% deposit and the house value we want is well under the max the lenders said we could borrow.
My girlfriend who will be getting the mortgage with me is in permanent employment.
Been reading a few horror stories about people not being able to get mortgages because of this, however a friend recently went for a mortgage and they didn't even ask if they were permanent or on contract etc - it's got me worried either way as we may be getting closer to having an offer accepted on a house we like!

We've ous been accepted with santander with my hubby on a fixed term contract. We have got 9 years of repayments behind us though.
He started March 13 and has until Oct 15 on his contract. He needed a letter from work saying it was higher likely to be renewed.
Looking back we'd not tell them next time ad just tick permanent. It was a lot of hassle0
