I've just heard on the radio that they're looking for firemen in the Penketh area of Warrington and are offering taster sessions to anyone who thinks it may be for them.

In the London Fire Brigade they are called fire fighters, which covers both genders. My brother has been a f/f for 29 years and loves it.0

As a slight tangent, there is an insurance product which is normally called "Key Man" insurance - basically ASU/ PPI for companies.
Did some work for JCB Finance to create a number of insurance products for them to cross sell to those that were getting finance on diggers etc. You'd have thought it has to be one of the most male dominated industries out there but they were very insistent that it had to be called Key Person Insurance and not Key Man

Hmmm let me think - it's well paid, has a very good pension, about as good job security as you can get nowadays and requires no prior qualifications to join.
As a result, when the fire service recruits, it is usually massively oversubscribed.0 -
