I've just heard on the radio that they're looking for firemen in the Penketh area of Warrington and are offering taster sessions to anyone who thinks it may be for them.

No firewomen?0

In the London Fire Brigade they are called fire fighters, which covers both genders. My brother has been a f/f for 29 years and loves it.0

I suppose they'd let women have a go, especially if they were 'hot stuff'Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

As a slight tangent, there is an insurance product which is normally called "Key Man" insurance - basically ASU/ PPI for companies.
Did some work for JCB Finance to create a number of insurance products for them to cross sell to those that were getting finance on diggers etc. You'd have thought it has to be one of the most male dominated industries out there but they were very insistent that it had to be called Key Person Insurance and not Key Man
Never seen the attraction of being a fireman0 -

Was talking to my friend's husband who is a firefighter in Australia. They get loads of time off, it's well paid, the most common call-out is for alarms which have gone off in error.
The most amusing job he ever had was rescuing a cockatoo from a tree (apparently a pet one with clipped wings which having escaped and got into the tree, couldn't fly).Make £2025 in 2025

Hmmm let me think - it's well paid, has a very good pension, about as good job security as you can get nowadays and requires no prior qualifications to join.
As a result, when the fire service recruits, it is usually massively oversubscribed.0 -
It doesn't pay well enough for me to consider it unfortunately. Certainly a worthy cause though.0
