A quick thank you.....

Hi all,
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone on the debt wannabe forum!
This morning, I paid off my last interest charging credit card thanks to the advice that you guys have posted here :) don't get me wrong, I am by no means out of debt yet but the amount of debt I owe has gone from £18,000 in July of this year (after having my lbm in February and looking at my options) and owing 7 creditors to owing £14,000 to 3 creditors this morning. Looking at it like that, it doesn't sound a lot now but it is for my situation! The creditors I've paid off were relatively small debts (next, little woods, my overdraft and a credit card) but I feel like I'm making headway. Only one of my debts has defaulted because I asked for it to be to stop the interest so my next step is to save up and get a f&f settlement from the defaulted debt before Xmas as I'm saving to do this, then tackle the other two.
Without the advice from everyone on here, I doubt if I'd have even had my lbm, let alone have paid this much off! The advice you ladies and gents give is invaluable, thank you x

Don't forget to say thank you to the most important person in this........
    yourself.
I found that giving myself a pat on the back when I made progress with my debts helped keep me going during the bad days.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • Thank you :) if it wasn't for this site then my lightbulb moment may never have happened and I still would have been adding to my debt instead if reducing it, which is quite a scary thought. We still have the odd treats as a way of congratulating ourselves but it's always budgeted for! My kids now know the value of money and my 11 year old helped me do our revised budget Monday night so he knows what it means to not overspend, something I was never taught by my parents, and will hopefully stand him in good stead for the future so he doesn't get into the financial mess I came so close to being in. Doing this has also taught me a good few lessons - the best things in life really are free, money can never buy happiness, I'm stronger than I thought I was and a budget is my best friend!
