  • Really rough weather this morning with high winds and heavy rain, but it has brightened up for now, but is still very windy.
There are a lot of branches and fences down around here.
I have a hospital appointment at 1.30 with the spinal surgeon, so I am off for a quick shower.

Hope your stitches come out today JackieO x

    Hey all.

Head buried deep in studies but popping in briefly.
Hope all are well and are comfortable in this awful weather.
We haven't got it too bad here, except for the high winds.
Been doing the hokey cokey with my washing all morning.
Just ran out to save it from a shower and now having brought it all in the sun is shining:mad:
Meatballs in slow cooker, to be served with pasta, nice easy dinner as dd8 has swimming tonight.

Take care, hugs all round xx

  • Afternoon everyone, the wind is still enthusiastic down here, but not too much by way of rain overnight and blue skies and sunny at the moment. I'm just going to venture out with the lurcha for a walk and then come back for a nice cuppa. Hope all of you have survived the wild weather without any damage to your homes, and that you all have a nice afternoon, Lyn xxx.

Hester your poor DH! I went all wobbly, reading your post today; surely the poor chap should be resting so that healing can happen, not going to work. Sending him healing vibes.

Managed to take Jack for his morning walk before it poured with rain; he had his meds and his brekkie (he has a wheatabix biscuit every morning) and he's been snoozing ever since. It's a dog's life!!:D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Good afternoon,

Well the winds are so bad here that next door's front wall has come down. It has looked a bit dodgy for a while, so I think the wind waas the final straw.

Himself gathered up the bricks (about a 3 ft wall against an entry) and I texted the owner. He only partly lives there, the rest of the time at girl friend's, so I expect he might be here tonight to have a look. It actually fell into the garden so that was lucky, just shows how strong the winds are.

    Afternoon All

Very windy here at the moment, sunshine and showers too. Washing on the airers. I think I am up to date with it now. Need to do some ironing and put stuff away.

Had a good nights sleep last night but feeling a bit tired at the moment, if I can manage till about 10 I should be ok.

Had salmon and veggies last night and have made a spicy bean soup for tea, may have some rice with it. DD working till 7 so I will have mine earlier.

TTFTM - Sorry to hear your DH didn't get the job. There IS something out there for him, just hope you can both manage till it comes along.
HH - Ouch for OH, hope he rests and recovers soon.

    Take care. XX

Yay my stitches and sterri strips are all out and next week will start the 'inflation' bit Fingers crossed :):):)60mls of saline at a time to gradually inflate the insertion. Its apparently safer that gel inserts and my consultant is happier doing things this way as he says any 'leaks' won't be chemicals into my bloodstream. He is delighted with how everything is going and I feel a lot better now some of the bandages are off.Only two small ones left on my front which is great and gives me far more mobility(but I did promise him I won't go mad just yet :):):))Still have to take things easy and definitely NO heavy lifting at all.
So its onwards and upwards at the moment .DGS Ben just emailed me to say one of the girls in his shared flat in Halls is a veggie and is keeping an eye on the other boys there and making sure they eat properly,No pot noodle dinners for him then:) .He said he did a big spag bol for his pals yesterday and a meatless one for her, bless him.
I do miss him dreadfully as he is such a good lad and he worries incessantly about his daft old grandma. But it'll soon be december and he will be home for a break.
weather brightened up a bit but its very blustery at the moment
    Cheers chums

  • Hester  he has gone back to work much too soon. He should keep his feet up and if it keeps bleeding he needs to see someone about it x

Saw the consultant today who was lovely, but it transpires that one of my cervical vertebrae has collapsed, and I also have lower back issues he said that physio is no longer going to help and he could do injections in the base of the neck but that he didn't think they would be worth it.
He wants me to lose weight and consider having surgery to try to stabilise it :( There are a lot of risks associated with it so I really need to think about it.
I am to go back when I feel that I am ready, I just have to get a referral from the GP.

He also thinks I have diabetic neuropathy and I should be seen by the Diabetic consultant who will decide if I need referring to a neurosurgeon

DH thinks that I am wise to wait, but I should have asked for three months not a year, but as I said to him the consultant said I can go back at any time, we will see what the New Year brings.

We are in the middle of a really heavy hail storm, I am so glad we got home before it started.

Yay jackieO, glad that your stiches are out :)

Good news JackieO. Now, do as the doctor says and take it easy!
Butterfly Brain - What a lot to think about. My cousin had cervical vertebrae removed (apparently she had too many). A difficult time for her but she is fine now. Take time to think about things but seeing the Diabetic surgeon is a good idea. Hugs to you.
