buying and selling

Hello, I am looking to buy and sell items on a larger scale than just the odd couple of things I pick up along the way, i.e. buying from wholesale, job lots off ebay etc - where do I start in terms of making it legit and above board?

You will need to register with HMRC and if selling on ebay have an ebay business account.

However, that is the easy bit, the hardest bit is sourcing stock that you can sell at a profit, especially online where sites like ebay and Amazon will take a large percentage in fees.

Personally, I would spend a little time working on a business plan before committing to anything. Source stock, find a selling outlet and work your fees out to the penny. Don't forget to allow for wastage, damaged items, customer returns and losses. Then if all that looks feasible on the stock you know you cna purchase go for it.

The Christmas sales have already started online, so this is a good time to try a few items- assuming you already have an inkling of the stock you can source.

There are plenty of experienced professional sellers on the ebay board, we are all a bit gloomy at the moment due to the huge number of changes and glitches on ebay - but making money can still be done- as long as you get your stock right.
