Anyone used Next recommend a friend?

Hi I hope I'm posting in the correct place!
I recommended my friend to next last week, they got £20 off thier order and I got £20 to spend online.
I've recommended another friend aswell and they are planning on placing an order this week.
My question is ....if I have a £20 voucher from last week and a £20 voucher from this week can I use them for the same order? When next emailed me they told me I had to spend £20.01 to the the 20 off,so doubling it would hopefully be £40.02 for 40 off. Has anyone ever done this before?
TIA
