especially if you were contracted out at any time between 1978 and 1997 and you have already left the scheme or leave it before the new State Pension starts.
Clear as mud then.
See words in bold and post 25 above.
Do you happen to know whether your GMP increases in deferment by fixed rate or full rate?

All I can find about GMP increases are from one of my pensions which has...... will apply any increase to the part of your GMP that was earned after 5 April 1988 and pay this with your pension, but only up to a maximum of 3%. Any increase above 3% and all of any increase on the GMP amount earned before 6 April 1988 is paid by DWP with your state benefits0

Have a look at the thread above from post 25 onwards - this shows the importance of knowing the difference between fixed and full rate - in the case of GeoffoM, HMRC/DWP had made an error.
Your scheme administrator should be able to give you the answer.0 -

Autocredits can apply for men provided they were born on or before 5 October 1953 (see https://www.gov.uk/automatic-pension-credits-for-men).
Assuming molerat is a man then I think all he has said about his age is that he was aged 55 at some point during 2009. If, say, he was born on 5 October 1953 then he would have been 55 through 2009 until 4 October.0 -
The instant pension calculator seems to be working for me now, though I'm unsure how accurate it is. It now asks for my government gateway ID which I provided - previously it just pointed me at the form BR19.
It says "We estimate that your State Pension, based on your National
Insurance contributions record to date, is £114.61 a week." which apparently includes maybe £1.41 a week of additional pension.
I wasn't expecting any more than that in extras as I knew I wasn't entitled. Just pleased that the basic appears to be in place, contrary to some websites who say otherwise.
However it also says "So far you have 41 qualifying years", which as I worked from 1968 to 2006 seems a bit awry. I haven't paid for any extra. Still, I'm not going to ring and complain that they got it wrong.
I am the OP and chum who rung and asked for estimate at 9:00 on first day still hasn't had a reply yet. I've asked him to do instant quote and see if his written one is the same or similar.0 -

When did you leave school ? I think that at some point in the 60's - 70s you automatically got 3 years NI credits if you remained in full time education between the ages of 16-18, which may explain the extra0 -

Had memory lapse - it was 1968 when I left after I'd done O Levels. Didn't do A Levels due to circumstances. So no credit there. I was 17 by the time I started work. My error gets me one year closer but still short of 41. ??0 -

If you were born before 6th October 1953 you will get 3 years additional autocredits for the tax years when you are 62 to 64. See link in post #360 -
According to my partners latest forecast he has 48 years and pension forecast of £126.50 per week and in that figures includes £13 additional amount.
However he has not worked since he was 60 and has two final salary pensions and has been receiving auto credits since the age of 60.0
