To give up a permanent role for a one year contract, I would have undertaken a pretty thorough "due diligence" process to ensure that I knew what I was getting in to. I would also have made sure that I had some ample recompense built into the contract I signed just in case. (For senior roles, I would expect the notice period to be equivalent to the length of the contract)
The job isn't what you expected. Sh*t happens. In the absence of contractual entitlement I don't see any case here.0 -
I am not a lawyer but do not think that you need a lawyer in this case because no laws have been broken. It was your choice to take the job but it is unfortunate that the job no longer appears to be what was described.

I thought If I hire for an acrobatic bartender I cannot ask him to rock the dancing pole?Maybe it is the way you are approaching your new employer which means you are not getting the responses that you want. Maybe you should be asking them questions about your future employment for the length of your contract? When will they start utilising your experience?
Yes I have done that. I have spoken in many meetings explaining that they were not using my skills, and I needed clarity as to what is expected of me. In the meanwhile my colleagues seem to rely on me for aspects of my job of which I am not in charge. My job title says I am, but the decision makers don't want me to use my effort and the budget to carry out these activities.
There is a complete lack of a plan, or a project management and they are now talking about a change to my role which is akin to data entry. It's completely unrelated to anything in my title or description. Surely they cannot do this?0 -
The phrase 'any other duties' will cover your situation. Even if that is not stated in your contract the best you are looking at is payment for your notice period. Have you checked your contract to see what this is?0

I am pretty inexperienced and this is my first senior role.0 -
You took a job that didn't turn out like you thought it would. Most people in work have done that at some point, to some degree. I don't see how you could possibly claim 3 months' salary for that!
Just chalk it up to experience and find something else.0 -
