Don't shop when your hungry is the classic. Take a shopping list. Meal plan your week so you buy food for meals rather than ending up with food items that go off or are not used because there was no thought in buying them.
Always join whatever loyalty scheme exists. I save quite a bit that way. Keep whatever coupons you get in your purse so you'll spend them.

I buy all my meat/poultry/fish products from the reduced aisles and have a lovely chest freezer full of treasure.. I then menu plan from my freezer list and buy the bits I need to go with each meal. I am lucky that I am around shops all the time and so pick up items as and when I see them...

  • My big thing was nice coffee. However I know that a cup of coffee bought from a shop is often £2.50 for that I now instead by nice filter coffee and have a cafeteria at work. Saved a fortune!

Check the unit price, two small packs may occasionally be cheaper than one large one.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

Definately shop at lidl or aldi, our onlune tesco shop was coming to £90 most weeks just on basics for a family of four, compared to going to lidl aldi with a list and still some impulse buys no higher than £75 and great quality.

Freeze your bread and only take out what you need when you need it.
If you need sweets, those own brand bars which are a quarter of the price aint that bad ;)
Use one of those shower scrubby things instead of just your hands, you need a fraction of the shower gel you'd otherwise use!
Don't throw out bottles of cleaning products when there is just a bit left in the bottom, turn them upside down and leave them but if that doesn't work add a drop of water, shake and leave for a few minutes :)

And don't forget to wrap your lasagna water tight before cooking it in the dishwasher whilst you do the dishes, saves on using the oven:rotfl:
