My 1.4 litre VW Polo costs about 11p per mile for petrol and is generally a good little run around and cheap to own. Insurance was about 290 GBP for the year, road tax is 115 and mostly the MOTs are well under 200.
However, just yesterday a little squirt on a scooter crashed into it while it was parked (and drove off of course!) so now i will prob have some paintwork damage to pay for myself unless i decide to go through my insurance. Does anyone know what's best to do....???Melt 7 lbs in May challenge - aim to lose 7 lbs

Hi there I have a 2litre diesel Zafira and it runs at 10p p/mile...
mine is a (currently bashed) 2litre petrol Zafira and the difference is 5p a mile more  . Must get the cost down!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I have a T reg 1.9 diesel Peugeot 306 Meridian. I bought it 5 years ago this coming September, with 42,000 miles on the clock - it now has between 115,000 and 116,000 on it.
The running costs work out at the moment at 9p per mile fuel only, 31p per mile including insurance, road tax, depreciation, breakdown cover, 2 services this year to date, and an estimate for the MOT which is due in September.
I know this isn't very money-saving, but my insurance is fully-comp, with no claims guaranteed. This is because I live about 30 miles from work, take an hour to drive there (less in the morning, more in the afternoon) and would take two hours by public transport, so I can't afford to be without a car. And the only excess I have is £50 for a new windscreen.
Before I bought it, it had one owner from new, and it has proved to be extremely reliable.0 -
Hiya
Sorry to hear about someone driving into your car never too late. Don't you hate it when people just drive off! Grrrrrrrrrrrr! I think we're going to run this car into the ground (whilst using it as little as possible) and then really research the next car and maybe get a diesel (sp??).January budget
Nothing left!0
