cleaning with sensitive skin

Hi, looking for a bit of help please. I suffer with quite bad skin on my hands (my daughter has patches of eczema too). I can't afford to buy the expensive kinder cleaning brands so I'm looking of any homemade alternatives (or cheaper hidden gems anyone might know of). Currently I use fairy washing up liquid, aldi washing detergent, and watered down bleach for surfaces and floors. I've heard of a couple of recipes using soap and soda crystals for washing clothes however the packet of soapflakes says you shouldn't use it in the machine (don't want to save a few pennies at the expense of my machine). any good alternatives for washing up liquid or all purpose cleaner as well. any advice is much appreciated, thanks in advance x

I find I have to use rubber gloves when washing up or cleaning, otherwise the skin on my hands gets dry, cracked and blistery :(
Waitrose and Sainsburys do the BizzyBee ones, which are nice because they don't have the flock lining which can irritate.

Soap flakes will make your machine foam up, so are only suitable for hand-washing clothes. Waitrose own sensitive washing powder is only £1.75 for a box and it's got no perfume in it. I use it for everything except woollens.

I have sensitive skin and get eczema on my hands very quickly if they come into contact with most cleaning products. Rubber gloves are a godsend and I won't do household chores without them as I pay fpor it all week if I try. I do find that Fairy aloe (the pale green one) is less harsh on my hands if I am cooking and putting hands in and out of water. Can you wear gloves or are you allergic to them too?

  • thanks, the recipes I saw diluted the soap so I didn't know if that made a difference (reading through websites it never seems to state if solutions are for hand or machine washing). I'll try get to a waitrose so see there stuff thanks. I was a bit worried about using gloves I think they are made using latex (aren't they?) I almost always have some broken skin on my hands and so even though I'm not allergic I don't want to develop an allergy. maybe I'm just being a bit paranoid!
