  • New poster here-noticed your thread earlier and thought I'd suggest as you are a library user have you checked out their selection of DVD's? My local library has recently had a refurbishment and now has a really good range of new DVD's-I think they are only a £1 each to borrow and it would definitely save you some money.

With regards to DVD's etc. HAve you got a video recorder? At car boots there often appears to be lots of videos, also look for DVD's. Saw 1 for £3 the other day- I'm sure you can find them cheaper. You could buy the dvd /video watch it and then ebay/carboot it again possibly - just a thought.

You also mentioned you spend £150 on yourself each month on toiletries/clothes/medicines/going out etc. If you can post specifically how much you spend on them (use a spending diary to see how much you spend on each one we may be able to help you cut back). For example you can get a precription prepayment certificate if you buy a lot of perscriptions and it works out cheaper, with regards to toiletries have you tried wilkinson/superdrug/ pound shops as they often have some good buys in these areas.

Again- house bills, what are these, can you get them cheaper and save yo uand your partner some money- have you shopped around, some companies can be a real rip-off and there are some good deals out there if you shop around.

Food - Is that for you or both of you? Have a look at the old style boards and see if you can save any money in this area by cooking from scratchand eating healthy and cheap meals.

Mobile- is that contract or pay as you go? - can you cut it down to £15 / £10 and use the home phone more if you have one?
There's loads of things you can do to save money, good luck in making some of the changes.

Having a closer look - if you ditched the car - that should give you some money to pay off your debts +£31 a month insurance, cutting the DVD's in half with give you another £7.50 a month - that's £38.50 a month so far extra. £146 a month should give you enough for food and toiletries so you can pay an extra £38.50 a month off you debts. Using the snowball calculator you will see how this can help you pay off you debts.
    Good Luck
