I agree with everyone who misses the nice warm towels from the airing cupboard but since it;s demise the bathroom has been re-designed and in the space were there was once an empty cupboard is now a lovely shower cubicle. And i know which one i prefer.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

My old fashioned boiler took up far too much space, with a cupboard needed for the water tanks instead. I only ever used the airing cupboard for storing towels and that's what the space still does, stores towels. Far happier with instant hot water that doesn't run out.0

I have an airing cupboard but no boiler in it (I have a combi downstairs) but I still use the airing cupboard for storing my bedding and my towels.0

Im envious of those that have cupboards full stop, as soon as any woman walks in my place she would say a man did my conversion, massive rooms and no cupboards0

Both my SILs have had a small radiator put in the airing cupboard when they converted to a combi boiler. I'm still working on my DH to have the same.:(0

I loved the one in our old house. My hubby built shelving inside and put in a rail under one shelf so everything could be hung up on hangers, then when dry folded and stored on the shelves ready for ironing.
Now i have no tank or cupboard, so have to use a combination of line drying, hanging clothes off door frames on hangers, and those drying racks that hang off the radiators. I recently got a chest of drawers in the back bedroom to store the clothes ready for ironing, so at least it looks clean and tidy and there's no piles of washing hanging around.
I actually hate it to be honest, and there is no alternative. There's nowhere I can build a warm cupboard in the house. All the pipework runs under floorboards or above ceilings, so can't even add a radiator if I had one built.0 -
I missed my airing cupboard too so I asked OH to fit one of those wooden airers which hoist up above us in the utility room. A big radiator on the nearest wall does the job brilliantly.
Still missed the storage though so an office cupboard from Ikea (narrower than normal cupboards) installed on the landing stores all of our bedding in a very handy spot! The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Absolutely! This house had its last makeover in the 1970s and the two cupboards that are here are puny, badly designed and just pathetic.
The only built in wardrobe is in the main bedroom, and the hanging rail is sufficient height to hang knee length skirts, shirts and jackets, so coats, dresses and long skirts pool on the floor. They now live on the backs of bedroom doors so they stay clean and uncreased.0 -

What do you need cupboards for ?
You just throw things on the floor, i think there must be a 'tidy fairy' who picks them up.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

When some alterations were done (to create an en-suite shower room), the hot water immersion tank had to move. As a result, my airing cupboard is a bit of a strange shape but has a tubular heater thing on the floor, on a timer so it is only on for a couple of short spells during day. It seems to work though.
I have built in wardrobes but they are on the outside wall and I find everything gets mouldy - unless I leave the doors open during day to let the air circulate.0
