im currently in temporary work so im considering my options for permanent work.ive noticed jobs being advertised for payroll administrators using Sage software. There is a deal on living social for a sage course atm for £399 (was 1800). im just wondering if its worth paying the money to do this online course or is it a waste of time because employers usually want hands on experience aswell as the qualification. what do u think?

I think employers will usually want on hands-on experience especially in something as important as payroll. However a larger company with a number of people in a payroll department may be willing to take on a trainee who has done the course. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

Check all the costs involved in the online course. Who has accredited the certificate? Are there extra costs involved in getting a recognised qualification? Many "colleges" offer their own certificate with the option of taking a recognised qualification as an external candidate elsewhere. This can be expensive.0

nope most people wont even look at you without experience especially for something like payroll
do you have any accountancy or or book keeping experience or skills? then its probably not worth it
try some of the free ones on vision2learn they are great and the business and admin one has always been the one employers liked when i was job hunting
good luckThe only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -

E-careers are the company that led me to post the above. I'd double check all their details, it worked out cheaper for me to use my local college.0

hopefully it will be in NI soon
any adult education centers around you?
if you want to get into something like accountancy or payroll then you really need to get some experience behind you go and do a basic book keeping course then go and volunteer for someone like the scouts or something and build up your knowledgeThe only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -
I wouldn't waste your money on a sage course. There are a number of different versions of sage, you could do this course on one version, then if you went to an employer they could use a different version and you would be lost. By the way, sage payroll and accounts are very easy to operate, the complicated bit is knowing the accounting treatment of the information, and different companies have their own policies. The best way to learn sage is hands on experience alongside someone who knows the system, this may mean volunteering for a while or shadowing someone in an accounts department. Maybe apply for positions of Accounts Assistant or Accounts Admin, where you will have the opportunity to learn basic bookkeeping and progress up the ladder.Mortgage = [STRIKE]£113,495 (May 2009)[/STRIKE] £67462.74 Jun 20190

£1800 for Sage at full cost and £399 reduced rate are both, frankly a rip off. Contact your local FE College as most provide training in AAT and this is a unit of the course. Although not named as sage, there is a unit on Using Computer Systems (or something like that). There may also be funding available.0

Consult with the students who already done same course. Find out the benefits they get after completion of course.
If they are providing certification after the course, then you can go for it. In most of reputed firms certification is necessary.0
