DMP and Renting - tennent referenceing LetsXL

Hi

I have a DMP being paid so all up to date with that, employment ok, and previous landlord refrances
My letting agents use a company called LetsXL to check tenets and their worthiness I was just wondering what they can see in their credit check and undisclosed credit check

Hi!

Credit checks for renting can ONLY show publicly available information. That means bankruptcy or an IVA/DRO or CCJs. Anything else (missed payments, defaults, DMP information, how many creditors you have, how much you owe etc) cannot be seen.

Thanks I have a feeling that we have been had then, we have poor credit and dmp as I ha have said and we where upfront in saying this and they wanted 6 months upfront for us to move in which we had to borrow so now have to start paying this back but we Want to move again and now from what you are saying our shocking credit won't matter

Sorry to hear that. I think referencing agencies like to make people believe that they can see much more than they actually can and so people think they've got to admit to everything.

Yes, in future I wouldn't mention anything unless you've got the bankruptcy/IVA/CCJs information on your credit history. If you've got those I'd be honest about them to the letting agent because they will show up but anything else? Nah, keep schtum!
