I used tried lentils to bulk out a meal recently for the first time. Decided to stretch our meals to save a little money. Threw a handful in to a chilli. Was advised to start using a little and building up. Couldn't tell they were there! Dh and ds also ate them with no issues.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500

I started with tinned lentils after having trouble with dried. I threw them into the shepards pie, but not while cooking the meat, just while browning the potato. Crunchy pie! After using tinned for a while I got brave enough to buy dried again. I precooked them in the slow cooker like I do chickpeas, so I could freeze portions. I over cooked them and they are like mashed potato, but as people said they go well into sauces. I have some dried brown to precook and freeze now.0
