I am soon going to get some quotes for a system and need to clear up a few points. My roof is east west facing and can only fit a max 10 panels.A neighbour has just had 10 panels fitted to the front but I want to use the system as along time investment so hope to max out the 4 kw systam.Would it pay to get say 8 on the front and 8 on the back and roughly what will be the extra costs.Any other thing worth installing at the same time as we are out at work during the day but hope to semi retire in a few years time .Comments please

Edit Im am actually pointing 135 degrees which is SE so will this have any baring on split system

Are you saying that you can get 10 panels on the front and 10 on the back? If so I don't see any problem with a 4kWp system.(doh...just re-read your post)
You could get some sort of monitoring but personally if you're not in during the day(to start with) then just some timer switches to switch appliances on as and when would suffice.
If you post your rough location others may be able to recommend an installer close by too

Costs for a E/W split shouldn't be any different to one that was on 1 roof, it may be a bit of extra scaffold but they're there anyway. Only other thing is you'll need to have a dual string inverter(one for front and 1 for back)

Easy can fit 8 on front and 8 on back just want to make sure it is financially viable as the costs will be more.My area is GU14 if anyone can recommend installers

Why do you assume that the costs will be more? My parents had an E/W split earlier this year and the price wasn't really anymore than if it was on one roof.
