toffee vodka question

I have made some toffee vodka using wethers which have dissolved nicely but on the top of the vodka is a cloudy sediment which doesn't look very nice. Do I need to filter it somehow or do you just shake it before drinking?

You could try filtering it, maybe through a coffee filter. That's what I did when I made skittles vodka.
  • I'm sure I read muslin cloths were good for this too

Hi, I made this last year for Christmas, I filtered mine through coffee filters to get rid of the stuff that sits on top (which I think is the fat from the sweets) I just used a funnel and place a coffee filter inside and poured a bit at a time in, it takes a while to filter through. I changed the filters now and then because they got clogged with the sediment after a little while. It came out a gorgeous clear toffee colour. Good luck!

Eta; you don't have to filter it, I've made a few times and personally find its better to filter it rather than having to shake it each time you want a drink.

  • If I were to make this as a Christmas present. When would be the best time to make it!? Is now too soon?

You can make it now if you want, I've got some left from last year and it's still good! I think it gets a little more sugary as time goes by, just makes it easier to get drunk with!
