Haggling in PC World

Hi all,
Have had a look in the electronics haggling thread but that seems to be dead/ very old!
Just wondering if anyone has tried to haggle in PC World recently?
I'm after getting a new laptop (max of £300), I've done a bit of research of prices online and will be heading out to try and get a deal next week.
What I want to get ideally is MS Office thrown in (windows laptops don't seem to have it pre installed any more. I had Windows 7 Home pro on my previous - but all I can find now is Windows 8.1, no packages included)
Do you think this is achievable? I'll be using the warranty approach as suggested by MSE, so fingers crossed!
Thanks
Charlotte

Not really much chance of that on a £300 laptop, there will be hardly any profit on it as it is. Microsoft stop selling Windows 7 for consumer PCs and Laptops at the end of this month so unless you find some old stock most manufacturers will have moved to Windows 8/8.1. However the operating system doesn't dictate what packages are provided - Office wasn't part of Windows 7.0

Thanks for the reply Helix.
Will take that on board and see what they say.
I thought office was included with my last laptop, maybe I am remembering wrong! the OS was Windows 7 Home Premium, maybe I installed office separately, strange though.
Anyway, thanks a lot and hopefully I'll get some kind of deal (even if its just a free laptop bag

Hi char2802,
Just wondering if you're successful in your haggling in PC World as planning to get a laptop as well.
Thank you x0 -
On what basis would you haggle? You need to have researched, and found the same model cheaper elsewhere (and they'll want it to be in stock too). Getting £100s worth of software thrown in is unlikely!0

On a £300 laptop, you will be able to £30 off if you have the o2 prioritys app.
As for haggling a discount, you may be able to haggle the 10% but you wont be getting office for free.
If your a student, your educational establishment will be able to get you office for free.0
