Just seen on good morning a competition to win a fiat 500 worth £17000 pounds. Is that for real, 17 grand for a pokey wee motor? Are people off their heads giving that sort of money to drive around in a sardine tin?

The model shown here is £10,500. I find even that to be expensive. At £17,000 it must be loaded with extras.

The competition is for a Fiat 500C - C being for Convertible.

Prices for it start at £15,000 -> £18,500

Och I don't know. I suppose some people would rather have a cat's whiskers version of a wee car than a basic version of a big one.

It's nice to have all the bells and whistles. I spent about £2,500 on extras for ours just a couple of months ago when we changed. If we'd bought all the extras we really wanted we would have spent £6,000 above basic.

Is it not directly in proportion though to something like a BMW 7 series or a top end Merc? Say a basic car around £60,000 then a pile of extras added on top takes you up to £80,000?
