I want to buy a new board game for 7 yr old and was thinking of Monopoly.
I know it is quite a long game though! I have seen different versions of it - "Skyscrapers" or something and also a "Junior" game and wondered if these were any good.
He is quite a clever little boy but wondered if the original would be too complicated.

I loved monopoly as a child...and as a family we still love it...
I would have no problem buying it for a 7 year old who I thought might like it.
I wouldnt go for the junior version,my children didnt really enjoy that ...but any version of the older game would be good...especially if you could tie it into their interests/likes...
Its a classic game and never really dates.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

My 7 year old loves monopoly, she had junior at 5 and had hello kitty monopoly at 7. I've got christmas-opoly for christmas this year (she will be 8) and we also have the Birmingham addition. So i'd say go for it! :beer:Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0

They've never really been into board games (certainly not like I was at that age) but play this nicely. But they have played the game on my phone before, so sort of knew what to do.
In terms of how long it lasts, have you got somewhere to put it without packing it away?
Or you could come up with rules to make it go quicker.
E.g. each player starts with x number of property cards (selected at random) or who has the highest worth after a certain length of time.0 -
My 6yr old has no problem playing it. Obviously not playing tactically yet, but has a grasp of the basics. She prefers the modern version that has cards you load money onto, as to her its more realistic lol0

My 9 year old received Dr Who Monopoly when he was 7 and still loves it. We might have to play the quick version but it's a good game to leave set up and return to at Christmas:hello:

My mother always called it Monotony and refused to play with us when we were kids. My kids are lucky and I love it. They have been playing with varying amounts of assistance since 4, now 8 and 9. We have a few different versions we got the Junior Dragons one, themed to How to Tame your Dragon they liked it because of the dragons but I found it irritating and the pieces are cardboard. They have no problem with the non junior versions. We have Cars and Despicable Me as well as the electronic banking one. They love the cards in the electronic banking but they really love the minions so it is played more.0
