sad fart rule on returning boots.

I wonder if anyone can help me with my predicament?
I bought some CAT boots (quality boot maker) for £70 reduced from £110,and I am not happy with the quality of them.
I walked my dog on some grass with morning dew and my socks were soaking wet. In my opinion boots that cost this much should have waterproof soles, especially big brand ones.
I took them back to sole traders and said I wasn't happy with the quality for the price I paid,I got told that they haven't got a label to say that they are waterproof. I went to look around the majority of the boots in there and I saw no label. So is every boot not waterproof?
Can I get a refund for these boots as in my opinion soles of boots and shoes should not soak through from the sole?
This is my first post, thanks in advance.

Are you sure the water didn't come through the sides of the boot? I don't think I've ever bought boots or shoes expecting them to be waterproof without some kind of treatment. They often offer you water-repellent spray in shoe shops. If they were waterproof, sweat wouldn't be able to evaporate off either, so not really a selling point unless you're wanting wellies.0

If you did not ask the trader whether they were waterproof or Gortex lined when they were purchased then you will have difficulty getting the trader to replace or refund them.0

I would contact CAT direct. Tell them where and when you bought them and what you paid and ask them directly the problems/questions you are facing with these boots.

The insoles were and still are wet. Still, for 70 quid I expect better. My 20 quid asda garden boots are waterproof but not trendy or comfortable.0

OP, you didn't buy waterproof boots. There was no indication that they were waterproof at any point. Your assumption will have cost you £70.0

If you look on the CAT UK website, it shows 41 different styles of boots of which only two are listed as waterproof.0

Very few boots are waterproof - unless they say they are, you can't just assume they will be.0
