Tesco - Harry Potter Pre-order

Before I kick off with Tescos I wanted to check that I haven't been extremely stupid...

I pre-ordered HP with Tescos on 4th July (before all the free P&P offers etc)

To bump my order up to £20 (free delivery) I ordered a few other books and requested that they all be delivered together when HP was released...

...and so I sat all day on Saturday waiting :rolleyes: and waiting and waiting :mad: and my books never came :mad: :mad: :mad:

About 6.30pm I gave up the ghost and went to Sainsbury's to pick one up...get into work this morning to an email from Tescos saying they have dispatched it today :eek:


So - did I do wrong? Did I miss the bit where you had to specify it comes on Saturday?

And most importantly, can I send it back / take it back to store?

Any help would be appreciated.

I had exactly the same problem, and it turned out that some of the other books I'd ordered had gone 'out of stock' in the time between ordering and expected delivery on 21st. Tesco adviser said they'd be delivered on 30th July!! Not good when waiting for Harry Potter!

Gave up the ghost and brough it from Sainsbury instead, same price.

When your order finally arrives, you can refuse to accept it (according to the adviser I spoke to on Saturday) and it'll get returned to store (warehouse?) and your account recredited if money already taken out. If it's popped through your postbox, just return it as per store policy.

PreOrdered mine from Mr T on extra points DOTD, parcel arrived yesterday via TNT - no book in parcel!!!:eek:

Have asked for refund - will prob lose the points too :mad:

Never again.

my book was delivered on 21st but at 8.30am my daughter was devastated as i had to wait 48 hours before collecting it from th p.o depot still she'd finished last night anyway

MFD I suspect that because you requested all your ordered books be delivered together they had to hold the Harry Potter back until your other books were ready to dispatch. However this does not mean you aren't still entitled to return it under the normal 'proof of purchase/original condition/in 30 days'.
