Property I Am Buying Changed to 'Under Offer'

I made an offer on the property and it got accepted. However, it is now on rightmove as 'Under Offer' instead of 'Subject to Contract' (which I was hoping it would be). My estate agent said that this is simply how they do things.
Is that something that I should be concerned about? What do you think about when you hear 'Under Offer'?

All EA's work differently. I don't agree with some of the practices.
If you have had your offer accepted then as far as I am concerned it's SSTC0 -
If you search RightMove without clicking the "Include Sold STC" tickbox, does the property show up?
If so ask the EA to confirm that they will not be showing the property to anyone else nor will they be considering any other offers. You might even refuse to proceed until they change it to Sold STC.
If you're going to spend thousands of pounds trying to buy this house, you have the right to ask these questions and if they don't give you answers you like pull out.
or you could take out "Gazumping Insurance" like I have, but I don't know if it's any good because I haven't tried claiming, and hopefully won't have to.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Have far has your mortgage application progressed?0

Under Offer, Sale Agreed, Spoken For and Sold Subject To Contract have exactly the same meaning in EA terms and each one picks the one it wants. An acceptable offer has been made and a sale is proceeeding, but contracts have not yet been exchanged.
In these circumstances, the agent should take details of any enquirers, just in case of a fall-through. If you are concerned the property is still being marketed, have a friend call the agent and enquire. See what the response is.I am a mortgage broker. If there's no mortgage offer on the table. Then there's been no exchange of draft contracts.0 -
The property we are buying is still marked as under offer.
Offer accepted, mortgage approved. We're very nervous about it.0
