Green Energy Advisory Service

Options
Has anyone heard of Green Energy Advisory Service Limited or Absolute Renewable Energy Ltd, they have contacted me in relation to solar panels and the new government green deal scheme and asked if I wanted to make an appointment with an advisor. I have googled them and found no reviews or comments on them, just general company information. I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with them good or bad.

I assumed it was some sort of scam, as it was via an cold call.

Here's a link to the green deal

From what I've read on it you pay via the savings made from the improvements via your energy bill but ultimately that may need topping up via a "green loan" at "competitive rates"
How competitive against a low rate addition to a mortgage or 0% credit card(if you don't have enough savings) is anyones guess
I'm not convinced that it's better than actually buying your own panels if you can afford to.

Be very wary if it was via a cold call.

One thing to avoid at all costs is paying them any money whatsoever up front.

I read this yesterday but as I was art an' abart it didn't sink in!

Scam, scam, scam, scam (sung to the tune of Monty Python's Spam)...!!!

They are trying to play on the Govt green deal scheme but it will be a pure pay through the nose job.

It will be a call centre where the staff are scripted, they talk like they are doing the job, but in reality farm it out to a contractor who will do it for a bare bones price to them, allowing massive margins to be had.

Worry factor is Absolute Renewable Energy Ltd was registered at companies house in January 2013 - that's a lot of installs in such a short amount of time and no real feedback about them apart from their own site?

Green Energy Advisory Service Limited was only registered in May 2014 - though they claim to be consultants, not installers.
Unless they promise to get you a cheaper install, why add a layer of cost/interference to your project?

**I think tunnel fell into the magic word trap, they used magical words that made him think it was one thing, when it's an altogether different beastie!!

No the green deal is not a loan.

The green deal is the umbrella for a group of incentives/enablers to make your home more efficient. so Cashback, grants, incentives (rhi) and finance.

So you can have a non means tested grant for solid wall insulation which you never have to pay back, if the grant does not cover the full cost of the installation you can top this up by what ever means you want so cash, personal loan or green deal loan.

In regards to the company, they hold all the certifications for various work but do not directly employ any tradesmen just salesmen. Which is not a problem, but this means that one persons experience of the company may be widely different to another's because the end of the day it is a different sub contracted company that has done the work.

If you have the cash it is best to just buy, but if you don't the green deal can help.
