  • I always cook the turkey christmas eve and prep the rest of it, then we sit down about 1.30 - 2.00pm on christmas day (depending on how much sherry i have drunk :p)

Christmas dinner is eaten on Christmas Day. Our Christmas dinner is, like the majority of peoples a full roast. Like most roasts it isn't that hard and once the meat is in the oven and the vegetables peeled we spend the morning opening presents with a few visits to check on the meat, then that comes out and we do the rest of the dinner.

Christmas Eve we usually have a meat pie from the butcher.
  • Last year we went out for a posh meal Christmas Eve and we both agreed that we wish that that had been it for our meal rather than having to do the whole roast shebang on Christmas Day for relatives.

Mind you OH and i had bbq'd seabass the first Christmas we were together and champagne - just because we could (was in the Uk and not Australia before anyone says that!).

    Make it what you want.

We eat at about 3pm on Christmas Day, Bacon butties when we first get up and then open presents. Then about 8pm we have turkey and stuffing sarnies. It's basically Sunday lunch but with a turkey.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

Make it what you want - good idea. Only 2 of us and the cat so it is a bit low key. Roast beef or steak or goose pieces if we can find any. Not a turkey in sight as only the cat eats it. At lunchtime or evening depending on how we feel. Have home made Xmas pud from last year, hopefully it will be OK. Xmas cake later (lovingly made by me yesterday and laced with Cointreau:D)

Boxing Day a local carvery is offering a cold buffet for £12 so we'll try that.
  • No we eat about 1.30 on Christmas Day - the only day of the year we have a big meal at lunchtime. My parents come over and they wouldn't want to be driving in the dark on Christmas Eve.

I make mince pies, a dessert, prep the turkey and wrap him up in his greaseproof paper parcel, and cook the ham on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day we stick the turkey in and forget about it for 4 hours, then prep the veg, bacon rolls, stuffing etc. between us whilst having a few drinks (mulled wine for me, beer for him).

When my parents arrive they usually help set the table and we're all good to go. I don't know what people find stressful about it.

Nobody wants any tea, OH usually goes for a nap, parents help me wash up. The lads will normally have some turkey sandwiches and other bits around 9pm.
