Do I need a solicitor for this

I currently am in processof wanting to pay off a keyworker loan to LQ Housing Group. Based on value of house, I owe 60,000. Now I have this in savings and want to give it to them to pay it off as a lump sum.
I am told I need a solicitor to oversee this (Land Registry fees and all that). Is this correct or can I just send LQ a cheque for the 60000?
