Jury Duty question

I have recently finished jury duty and i'm in the process of filling in my expenses form to claim my loss of earnings.

I told my employer I would not be available for 2 weeks as I had to be available for jury duty and because of the nature of my role they have covered it with someone else for those 2 weeks. Given this on my 'loss of earnings' form when it asked whether i could go back to work if not needed it was put NO.

For 2 days of my jury duty I got told by the courts I was not needed so had to spend the day at home.

My question is I take it given I could not go back to work and they told me I was not needed which is obviously not my fault I take it I can still claim compensation for loss of earnings for those 2 days?? Otherwise whats the point in asking on the loss of earnings form?

They will possibly check with your boss to corroborate that you could not 'go back to work' for even half a day so yes, you will be able to claim for those two days....

But the court will have said to you 'we don't need you today' They wouldn't have said to you' you should spend the day at home'
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Yes they said we could go and was not needed not we could spend the day at home :-) but obviously as I could not go back to work I spent it at home.

So on that basis given there are 2 pay allowances £32 something for up to 4 hours and £65 something over 4 hours I take it I claim for the day so the £65 ? Its because of the 2 limits I questioned it as it would be more obvious if it was a flat day rate but it would seem not fair if the answer was no given they are the ones that need me to be available to do it.

On the face of it I don't see that it's unreasonable to expect the loss of income payments to be made. You couldn't go to work because your employer had got somebody else in to cover your absence.
