Ignis Cooker Hood' Carbon Filter

can some one tell me if i need a carbon filter for a
'Ignis Cooker Hood' Carbon Filter - Type 34
model IGNIS AKF420/WH/1
have no instructions cant find a manual online

we moved into our new home and its fitted to kitchen cupboard with door panel on the front of it,
it has air duct connected to the outside.
but i notice that's it has a carbon filter fitted ,
and was sure that you only needed one if the air was coming back in the room not extracting to the out side, i have fitted a grease filter paper on the front inside, that's when i notice the carbon filter.

just worried if i take carbon filter off .
