Minimum hours my employer is required to give me?

Hey, I started work on the 22/09/2014 after being unemployed for a while, when I started I got my contract and it states in it "Your normal hours per week will be 15.00." does this mean my employer has to offer me that amount of hours or anything up that amount? Basically, I'm working weekends, the first weekend I started I got around 15 hours, then the next weekend I got 8 hours and last weekend I got 8 hours. I'm enjoying the work but it's working out less than what I was getting on JSA and I don't want to quit and sign on or sign on at the same time.
Also if they are required to give me those 15 hours how could I go about letting them know without sounding like a !!!!!! considering I haven't been there for that long really.
EDIT: Also, the hours are determined by a shift rota if that makes any difference

in my place of work they would be my contracted hours so they would have to provide a minimum of 15 hours a week. They can provide more than that but the minimum is 15

You need need to speak to your boss about it and come at it as a polite enquiry rather than enforcing your rights as per your contract etc. Just when the next rota comes out polietly say "I see Im only down for 8 hours but I thought I was on 15 a week?" or such
