Only in those exams where the use of calculators is expressly forbidden or perhaps expressly allowed.
i.e : Qu : How do you spell languid?
Ans : Reach for a calculator & divide infinity by an undefined prime factor of the half life of zero.
Hope this helps :-)0 -

I was permitted a calculator in all my exams, but it needed to be a model approved by the university. It wasn't needed very much as they weren't testing arithmetic by that stage! But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

There is only one place to ask this question, and that's of the university dept setting the exams ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

When you get your exam date there is a list of equipment and models allowed to be taken in so don't worry about it as they let you know because its different for every course.0

You definitely need to be asking the OU this question as there are vast differences between subjects and even modules. They are usually pretty helpful if you give them a call.0

I've degrees in physics, and can't think of any question in finals where a calculator would have helped. They were presumably allowed, but useless.0
