I have burned a DVD with video clips but when we put it in the video player attached to the TV it says the disc is `unsupported`.
Does anyone know what do here please?

What model DVD player?
What type of DVD disc did you burn? (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD±RW, etc.)
If it's incompatible then it's incompatible. Burn them again on a disc which IS compatible.0 -
did you burn it as a data DVD or DVD Video?
If you put it back in a computer and browse the DVD can you see individual files or can you see a VIDEO_TS and AUSIO_TS folders?
If you see files its more likely the codec they were encoded with causing the problem as your player cant play it.
You could always convert them to a format your player will play (DivX, AVI etc) and re burn.0 -

Just had a quick glance at the guide, it looks frightening.
Is thing free of charge and is it a lot easier than it looks in the guide?

It's very easy. Often the only thing that you have to do to add the files and then scroll down to Burning in order to chose to let the program burn the result to DVD.
The guide goes into detail, but you don't really need it.
The other option is to convert the files to DivX format, which is playable by your player. If you have high quality clips, this is the better option.0 -
The direct link to the DivX (offline)installer is here
I prefer Offline installers as they are easier to install within a SandBox.0 -
