Visited Dad today. Was unimpressed by the nursing home but putting things in context he has as good there as a single room in hospital. Dad is not over keen on some of the food but eating it anyway. I think he is having stomach problems anyway.
He has everything he needs in his room and can buzz for whatever he wants. He is far more talkative now and think he feels safe and cared for. He has had lots of frequent visitors as it is now easier for them to see him. Lots of male orderlys and Dad was telling me about his shower buddy Ben ( Ben drew the short straw on duties there).
I had long chat in sisters car after visit and we both feel like we have our Dad back again. Not an easy thing to come to terms with but his depression and anger at the illness have died down and he is capable of enjoying company again. Going with dd at lunch time and going to see if he fancies going to pub over the road for lunch as there have chairs we can transport him in. In his ward of 20 single rooms he is only one who can walk.
Was dreading the visit and everything was as I expected it to be and dad likes the routine in there.
Little catch up for me now but doubt I will have caught up properly before Sunday.

:p I was posting my sewage story when the forum went down. So just for her
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
What I thought was a bin wagon pulled out in front of me at the roundabout at Morries today :eek::eek::eek: it stank SOOOOO bad! As I got closer to it I realised it wasn't a bin wagon at all, it was a United utilities wagon. By the smell, I guessed it was full of sewage? Honestly DS2 and I were wretching at the smell.......where does a wagon load of sewage come from? :eek: and where was it going??? I have never driven up that road and had cars so far behind me.......it was that bad :eek:
There are a lot of propertys that have septic tanks these can be emptied by a wagon if the tanks not working right, having said that it should be a sealed wagon so no smell,The person who never makes a mistake never learns anything.0 -

You might not think so V but things are sounding positive. As it is an will ever be you and sis are worrying more about your dad than he is about himself. Still not easy for you you but hats off to your old fellow........he is making it as easy as he can for you and your sis. What a gentleman :A the more you tell us about him, the more I respect him0 -
