    Morning all. Hairdryer arrived. Woop!

My take on baby showers- I organised one for one of my best friends a few years ago. She'd moved to Derby so it was a chance for her London friends to catch up. I really enjoyed organising it. Everyone bought something along (one of our friends made mini-Victoria sponges) that my friend liked. We had non-alcoholic and alcoholic drink, loads of food, presents and we made cards for the baby. She still tells me it was one of the loveliest days she had whilst pregnant.

So I get that it is an American concept and not everyone is a fan but for people you really care about it's smashing. I'll never forget the look on her face when I gave her a superhero outfit for the baby. Some silly stuff but lots of practical bits too. I think it really helped her out :)

i think it depends what people want out of it, your one sounds lovely and a chance to catch up and for the mum to relax before the baby was born, if the mum to be just wants lots of expensive gifts and a list is supplied of items I would not go as I think that is greed based, but the only one I went to was a hastily arranged affair, for a friend of dd1 who lost everything in a fire and had no insurance, we each brought a plate a food and a baby item some where second hand, but all items they needed, we all had a nice time and helped a young family when they needed it, :D
