Green Deal with council top-up grants

Hi all,

Bath and North East Somerset Council have announced they are providing top up grants for the Green Deal of up to £3000 for boiler replacement and £7000 for non cavity wall insulation, see http://www.cse.org.uk/advice/energyathome

This seems like a good thing as we could do with a new boiler, but the Green Deal has had such a battering that I was wondering about opinions on it?

Solar install June 2022, Bath
4.8 kW array, Growatt SPH5000 inverter, 1x Seplos Mason 280L V3 battery 15.2 kWh.

  • Looks like a good deal, it looks like the only requirement is you have to use a 'green deal installer; and have a green deal assessment (GDAR) you do not have to get green deal finance.
*You can apply for both types of funding but only to a maximum of £7,000 per property. In all circumstances you will have to fund the Green Deal element of the installation cost (e.g. through Green Deal finance, an alternative loan or savings). For some homes (when combined with the Green Deal loan) this will cover the total costs but not for all homes. The grant must be claimed and your chosen energy saving improvement(s) installed by 31 March 2015

So looks like what ever is left over after the cashback if anything, you can pay for with cash, personal loan or green deal finance

That was what I was thinking. The assessment is £150 though, which made me not want to rush into it.

You should be able to get some quotes off the approved installers before having an assessment, some may even offer it for free with the installation.
