Yes, you're right, but I know that renegotiating the lease is going to take months - if it is even possible at all - and we just can't afford to wait that long.
We're staying with family at present, which is slowly driving us all up the wall, so I don't want to wait for the vendor to perform the renegotiations even if that would be the most prudent course of action.0 -

It looks from the outside that you are pulling out all the stops to make the 'vendors problem' your problem.
Perhaps, but there are other factors to consider. Even with the lease in place the house represents excellent value for money. There's nothing else remotely as nice (in the area we're looking at) for the same kind of money.
To be honest, I'm not that interested in discussing the pros and cons of our decision, as I stated earlier I'm just updating the thread so that other people who might find themselves in a similar position can see how our situation panned out.0
