HiIm getting into the crafty thing at the minute and spoek to people on the organized christmas about gifts i could give tht id crafted and mentioned that i had alot of spare material just laying about because my sewing machine was broken - after a few replies rag garlands were suggested - basically you cut strips of material and tie them with a basic strong knot around a length of material so its left scraggly. You can even tie it round a length of christmas lights adn the same idea has been suggested using a nice soft material or cut up fleece to make scarfs with!so im having a go at a basic garland at the minute but i think i might do a few scarfs this year and try a few around lights one too to help decorate the house cheaply!

For card making, the docrafts website is great. I think you need to register to view the gallery but there are thousands of people cards on there and you can search by event. They also have projects and cards of the week etc.
  • This is a really useful thread thanks!

I love cross stitch but have been thinking about trying new craft ideas. I've set up a Favourites folder especially!

Any more links would be gratefully received!

Thanks for starting this thread & the links everyone.

My life has changed recently meaning I have more time at home tha I used to. I was just saying to my DH last night that I need something else to occupy me as I don't want to get sucked in to watching TV too much.

I've always loved reading about crafty things & save scraps of fabric, wool & 'sparkly stuff' I'm determined to have a go at some of these projects & can't wait to get started.

We're decorating our bedroom at the moment & I want an indian sari fabric patchwork wall hanging behind our bed. I've been looking to buy one but I'm going to make one instead. I don't have enough fabric in the right colours at the moment but we live near enough to Leicester for me to go shopping in some Indian sari shops there. I'm really excited about this so thanks again everyone.:T
