Loan query for new kitchen

Options
Hi everyone and thanks in advance for reading .

I'm wanting to put in new kitchen, on a house we have currently been renovating ..
I wasn't going to do this until next year as we have already done slot of work on house using savings. But the kitchen we love has been dropped to half price plus 20% off .
We planned of financing this using either the homebase loan for kitchen or getting a loan for 5k from my bank ..

Now I have found a loan from Santander for 6.9% which I'm happy with and it's affordable only problem bring is that in June this year I took out a balance transfer card £1800 balance remaining is 1350
And a 123 credit card 2k balance 1800 , these are our only debts other than mortgage of course .. I'm just wondering if I could apply to them for the loan or would I be better using store loan or my other bank (halifax) both credit cards are on 0% and will be psid off within the time frame needed before interest ( if this makes any differnce )

Thanks in advance Sarah

Well you've come to the right place to buy a kitchen today!

If you can use your cards and pay off before any interest is incurred, then that would seem the sensible option. But you would need to be confident, as the go to rate would be much higher than a loan.

  • The 5k is for taking out chimney , couple of new appliances as I want built in and a lowered ceiling with spot lights, tiling, flooring , and a new window ! Honestly £595 for new kitchen ?? Where I want one !

  • Haha think il give him a miss and stick to homebase but thanks lol
  • Just to let you know home base run these promotions all the time just the same as all the other kitchen sellers.

Massive so called kitchen discounting has been going on for years. Remember good old MFI.

This is a favourite tactic of many, DFS are also infamous for it. You know, 'our biggest ever sale'. You'd think by now that they would be giving the stuff away by now.
  • We've decided to wait until planned kitchen renovations until next year, no loan required just hard earned cash saved up , thanks for advise to above we will wait for the next "big kitchen giveaway" lol

Huh? What sort of madness is this? :)

Sounds a fine idea - good decision.

Despite this being the 'loans' board I think everyone on here will agree that not getting a loan is always the best option (if you can).

    Very good choice
