IPL Hair removal

Does anyone here have a home IPL system? If you do have one, what's your experience with it been like?
I'm sorely tempted to get one because I'm fed up with shaving/waxing/epilating but I'm not sure which to buy and there's quite a bit of difference in price between different brands/models. I'm unsure if it is best to go for one of the more expensive units that doesn't have a replaceable bulb (but the bulbs claim to last for ages) or one of the cheaper units with a replaceable bulb (but the bulbs don't last as long and may be expensive).
At the moment I'm edging towards the Philips Lumea Precision plus- Does anyone have one? Would you recommend it?
Also, has anyone seen any good offers? At the moment the best I've seen is £350 for the lumea precision plus at boots where there's a little bit of cashback available.

Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

Hi, I bought the Lumea 2006 last month & have used it three times so far on my chin and twice on my legs and arms. I like it very much. I've definitely noticed a slow down in hair growth. I used to pluck the odd stray out of my chin every few days and I've not had to pluck at all the last three weeks.
You are supposed to use it once every two weeks for the first two months followed by every 6-8 weeks thereafter. It says in the manual the unit is supposed to last six years based on average usage and comes with a two year guarantee.
I did look at the ones that had replacement bulbs but this one ended up cheaper over the long run as replacement bulbs are not cheap.
The Boots Smoothskin Gold is supposedly equally as good. It's the same price as the Philips.
My skin colour is light brown and my hair is black.
It's currently £315 on Amazon. Worth every penny in my opinion. I was previously spending £30 on an arm and leg wax every 2 months.0 -
I bought one in books for £150.
as i am so very hairy and it was just driving me nuts (i have nasty razor rash with shaving and pimples with waxing)
I have used for two weeks and noticed a huge reduction of hair on my legs, about 70 percent.
However my tummy line and underarms has only had a small reduction so far.
After i have been to the gym in a mo i will crank up the tv with a distracting film and sit and do another session.
Its painless but rather long winded but happy to do it to be hair free!
(olive skin - black hair)Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
Thank you both - I bit the bullet and bought the lumea precision plus last week. I know someone who works for boots so with their double discount I paid £262 which I think is quite good (especially since I was completely prepared to pay the £349 it was everywhere else at the time).
It's only been used once so far but I found it painless and easy to use...looking forward to seeing results!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
I bought the Lumea a few months ago and used it for a while and thought it was great! I saw a reduction in my underarm hair but not much on my legs. However, I got out of the habit and now they're back with a vengeance!
I think I will start again - let us know how you get on.0 -
The Lumea has just gone down in price this morning on Amazon, probably becuase the SC2008 is about to be released.
Amazon - £267
Boots - £267 if you use PDOCT75 (10% off) plus Boots points (it addes 3204 points to my basket)
The SC2008 has a bikini attachment, that's the only difference.
I actually posted this last night on grabbit but it was removed (not sure why as it's a good deal)0
