    Thanks again

Im not actually sure what the supermarket is to be honest! I just drive past it on the way to the hospital and quickly popped in.

I'm trying to talk my hubbie into coming with me into Leicester this weekend. They have a street which looks to be all asian/indian supermarkets. I bet its brill there!

It is sometimes possible to buy big bags of "broken" long grain rice in oriental/Chinese type supermarkets. They cost half of what a bag of unbroken rice would and to be honest, once it is cooked, the difference is not noticeable!

i know the place well, infact just moved back there earlier this year!

the road is melton road (A607). has everything there, well worth a visit.
the road caters mainly for the gujarati community (west india) but sells pretty much everything

    I normally get: -

Fresh chillies; red and green varieties, big or small (birds eye) really cheap!

Fresh Tofu (much better & tougher than the cartoned ones)

    Fresh Coriander

Soy Sauce (recommended the sweet one from Malaysia - glass bottle with white label & Red font : HABHAL's SWEET SOY BEAN SAUCE). Don't understand what it says ask me cuz I'm from Malaysia! :p

Maggi HOT Liquid Seasoning (very useful if you like to spice up your dish but do not want to put chilli in cooking in case other member of family can't stand it e.g. my hubby)

Yellow Noodles (the ones that look like the instant noodles, but in a pack of stacked dried squares) - cheaper than anywhere else I know in UK

Exotic Fruit in juice (can variety) - there are so many different kinds to recommend; Rambutans stuffed with pineapple, Longan fruit, Starfruit, Lychees, Mango, etc.

Coconut Milk; powder, can, cream block varieties - cheaper than non-Asian supermarkets

    Fresh Lemongrass

    Fresh Ginger

Fresh Pandan Leaves (normally packed in a bundle of leaves) - very good for flavouring desserts and main dish in place of vanilla

Asian frozen burgers/sausages/frankfurters/kebabs - most are spicy

    Frozen spring roll wrappers

Oh! There's so much more. But these are the ones I normally get regularly.

    Good luck! :)
I LOVE HARRY POTTER!!! - but I totally dislike the new Dumbledore (Richard Harris - may you rest in peace...)

    Thanks peeps!

Well I went back to the original asian supermarket I visited as I couldnt park up on the Leicester road. Mr_accountant im talking about the one right next to Leicester Royal Infirmary. I got everything I needed to make Thai green curry. I've got a recipe off a friend that looks brilliant so I cant wait to make it this weekend!

I got frozen lime leaves as well and I keep opening the freezer and sniffing them, how sad lol!!

Pinkyler I got coconut milk and it is far superior to anything else i've ever tried, its the chaokoh brand, its delicious! They dont have much in the way of fresh ingredient which is a shame but I got loads of other things and its so much cheaper than im used to paying and the quality is ten times better. Im hooked! :j

My local Indian store delivers – you can shop online HERE.

I’ve never ordered from them though as they are only 5 mins away from me :D .
