22.7.07 what small dfw thing will you do or have you done today?

13_3_1.gif Hello lovely DFWers - old timers and newbies. Lazy Sunday 23_2_64.gif.

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will do the following:

- check online banking and update spreadsheet
- make sure as many appliances as poss are switched off at the wall
- put petrol in the car after checking petrolprices.com
- do basic grocery shopping using vouchers only
- take picnic and flask to outdoor concert tonight to save buying costly crappy food and drink there!
- not increase my debt in any way
- not spend anything for most of the day as still in PJs!!!
- be positive!

Have a good day everyone :D

    thanks hypno:)

today, like you i wont be going anywhere to spend any money:D. i am checking my cupboards and putting together a list for a tescos online weekly shop as i think that will help my grocery bill which has been increasing of late! A tweak of the budget is in order to see if i can send anymore money over to savings:) and the usual checking account balances and what has to be done online bankingwise for tomorrow!

    have a great moneysaving day

  • Well, I can't go anywhere to spend anything as I don't have any money to spend!

But... I've just opened and A&L online account and transferred all my D/D's and S/O's over. They won't give me an o/d or c/c (go !!!!!! credit rating!) but they will pay in 6.50% interest for 12 months (down to 4.5% I think) on all credit balances (w00t!). That way, I can conentrate on reducing my barclays o/d and other bills :)

Oh, and I'm going to count up all my loose shrapnel from around my pit of a room, and see what it comes to.

    Oh happy Sunday! ;)

    Hello everyone.

Well today I am going for a NSD, I don't have to go anywhere and I just want a lazy day, being on here or reading a book (free - someone loaned it to me) whilst catching up on washing as well whilst the sun shines.

I have also done piggy comps & QuidCo searches.

The washing is all getting dried on the line and we are having a HM vegetable pilaf (made by my own fair hands ;)) for dinner. For lunch boyfriend has scavenged the freezer for something and is putting that together now.

We will stay in tonight and watch a DVD as well.

Am loving today - sunny & bright for a change and I don't have to go *anywhere* - it's great! :)

    Hi hypno, hi all.

    Today I have:
    - updated my sign, and pm'd Gemmzie onthe first week's total for the Olympic Challenge Take Two
    - sent out an Amazon CD. Was v cunning with the postage - there's been a 70p credit on a stoozed CC for ages, that I've simply never bothered with, I know the phone number, but........ 70p..... it'd cost me that to ring an 0845 number. So, altho it took me ages, I used that 70p credit to pay for the postage online and printed it out myself! Hurray!
    - walked to and from the local Asda (45 mins each way!!!) to buy 2 jars of pesto - I love the Waitrose stuff, but they don't have it in any more, so am trying Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury. T is disgusting. Sainsbury not bad. Asda, we'll see. Its all about 8-10p cheaper than Waitrose, which is good.
    - while I was there, I bought 3 oven thingies - sandwich tray (83p), bun sheet (83p - which I will actually use to make mini muffins) and a frying pan for sweet stuff (£1.47), as I'm making drop scones regularly now - gluten free, cheap, yummy, more hurray for me! Hmmm, may have been a waste, pan seems to burn. And I put too much baking powder in the drop scone mix, it tastes *horrible*.

I have been very good today and used up some hanging-around-for-ages oat cereal and tinned fruit (with a dash of brandy that's been hanging around since Christmas) to make a crumble. Cooking away nicely and smells wonderful. Cauliflower from the bottom of the freezer will make a yummy cauliflower cheese. Hardly anything in stock now but am determined not to shop until I get paid on Wed!

    Things for today:

I returned a faulty electrical toothbrush so I got £23.32 back onto my Boots card. Brought a reduced electrical toothbrush with my points yesterday (£10).

I used my points to get DH some rather expensive hayfever eyedrops.

I brought 3 reduced memory cards for £13 but I did get £15 back in Boots points.

I didn't bother getting myself lunch (DH wasn't hungry) so just brought DS lunch. Took home the 2 sachets of sauce he didn't use rather than it going in the bin.

Brought lots of magazines from WH Smiths but as I spent over £5 I used the 200 points voucher for a £5 spend. So I have got £2.05 back on my WH Smith card.

Had homemade soup DH made for my lunch.

That's all I can think of.
    Tesco points: 101 (£21.50, £19.50, £7.50, £21 & £5)
    Boots points: £0.28
    Pigsback points: 715 (4 xBoots£10 & 1 xPizzaHut£10, 2 x £10 clothing vouchers)
    Mutual points: 3417 (redeemed 8250)
    Rpoints:redeemed 28925 points)Cashbag:£8.91(£20)
