Obvious question and pardon me for asking, but are you using hard flour for breadmking and not bog standard one?
What bread machine is it?
At the moment Asda have offers on some Hovis bread mixes, 24p for white & 29p [I think] for granary, you could try these until more info comes alongEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
And you mention trying dry yeast, what yeast have you been using? Don't you have to use a special fast-acting yeast for breadmakers?0

The machine is a breville and thanks for the asda comment0

Hi there! We have an existing thread on making wholemeal bread so I'll add your question to that. Be sure to take a look at thriftlady's posts - she makes loads of bread, and has given me and others loads of tips :A
When I make wholemeal loaves, I use about half and half brown and white flours. Try with that and then experiment

My book has one but it includes seeds which i dont want .

thanks xxxThe original janiebaby0 -
Hi Janiebaby.
You can just follow your breadmaker's recipe for wholemeal bread and leave out the seeds if you like.
When I'm making a wholemeal loaf I use 50% strong white bread flour and 50% wholemeal. Most recipes also recommend using a crushed up vitamin C tablet when making wholemeal bread to help the bread to rise.
There's an earlier thread with more recipes and advice that may help:
Wholemeal/granary breadmaking help!
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.
