Looking for a 9volt pocket torch

Can any of you kind people help me find a pocket torch that runs off a 9 volt battery (the square/rectangular one).
I need to use a torch in my job and the only pocket torches I can find all seem to use AA batteries and as I am able to get the 9 volt square battery free it makes sense to me to try to find a torch to fit the battery.

I tried the wind-up torch but the one I had was just a bit bulky to carry in my pocket all day. I need a small torch with a strong bright narrow beam and the wind-up one is also a bit diffused.

Thanks :T

I think the problem is that these batteries have quite a low current capacity especially for a torch and generally are more expessive than the normal 'AA' batteries (but not in your case!)The other option is to buy a torch that takes 'AA' batteries and buy a set of Cheap rechargeable batteries. 4 for a £1 in Poundland.

Yes you can get 9V LED torches. PAlight makes them. I have a couple probably bought from ebay. They battery lasts about 100+ hours and they have different light levels. Not the brightest but if you get the batts for free, who cares. (clicm on the Flashlight link at the top and follow for UK prices, if you buy 2 or more they're £10 each).

There is one for sale on ebay at the mo for a reasonable price too (not connected).

Also here I have bought from them in the past. Good service but not instant delivery as I think they come from the US (they sort the import).

This is what I have done but as I use the torch all day I thought that the 9 volt might give a better light and last longer.

I have seen them when in the US but they dont give the narrow bright beam that I am looking for.

The one you want is the PALight Survival. I have heard of people removing the lens and reversing it to change the beam characteristics. I have ordinary ones and the beams are a little too tight for me, the survival came out after I bought mine. Anyway details I;m sure you've found here.

If you want AA rather than wasting your money with a 3 squillion LED monstrosity try one of these first. Sorry its off topic.

    Single AA
Single AA (old dim but solid)
    Another AA with newer LED
    Double AA
    Double AA
    Triple AA

If you have already got a maglite, there are a number of drop-in LED bulbs to replace the standard ones, a search for "terralux" should help. e.g. for AA Maglite look for "TLE-5EX". With the dollar rate at the moment, through ebay there are quite good deals. I bought something similar recently it arrived in under a week for about £12.50 (escaping the VAT/duty cut off). The Terralux stuff in the UK is either out of date stock or overpriced.

And if you do go AA then NiMH is the way to go.

Finally, back on thread, the only other 9V light is the PAKlite. They are reported to be dissapointing.
