Tesco and Somerfield

Someone on another thread said

BTW, don't forget Tesco now take Somerfield vouchers so pick up a Somerfield magazine. It has loads of vouchers in it![/QUOTE]

Is this so in all Tescos or just Tescos with a Somerfield close by? Do you have to buy the product or do they just treat them as any other random coupon? I wonder when they started doing this and why.

Has anyone tried it?

I've moved this over to the Vouchers board. Hopefully people on this board will be able to answer your question. :)

Well, there just isn't a straightforward answer to this. Last week I used £22 worth of Somerfield's back numbered coupons on a £30 spend. I had to stop the young lad from putting even more through.........I was worried we'd get beyond £0 and he'd end up giving me cash! Four days later I was subject to the closest of scruitinies when trying much the same thing and was told they wouldn't take Somerfield's. No problem, I just off-loaded some others on this occasion. Today business as usual:£18 off a £33 spend including loads of Somerfield's. Till operators and Supervisors seem to impose their own rules. I never complain or make a fuss- I simply hand over my envelope and ask whether they can take any.
You'll win some and lose some...........but still worth trying.

Do they just take them whether you've bought the product or not?? :rotfl:

They just take them-one of each only for goods they stock.

Try ringing your local Tesco and ask, the number is on your receipt. But if they say no try another Tesco, they all seem to have their own rules
