For anyone interested I'm pleased to say that I am back home with my wife and children again.
I was away for three weeks and we both had time to think about our futures. Thankfully she missed me a lot and the kids were also delighted to see me back as they found it quite hard despite me seeing them virtually every day.
The decision came after we found some time to be together, just the two of us. We sat down and talked and have decided that despite all our faults (well mainly mine really!), we love each other and care for each other and want to face up to the future together.
We are going to tackle our problems as a team and keep talking and deal with this debt head on.
Thank you to everyone who sent their support and advice. I am very grateful to you all and nicked quite a lot of your ideas which helped immensely.
Best wishes,
ZD

ohhh zulu great outcome, i was wondering how it was getting on, your post were very emotional at the time and i really felt for you. Everyone has there faults and although these may be small/huge it doesnt matter you can work around these. I am sure you and your oh will have a fab life together and i am glad you have learnt to talk to each other and not hide away your feelings... take care and remember to come back and update again... oh and of course when you are debt free

Great News, and I am really pleased for you.
Remember, you both still have a long journey ahead of you, so one step at a time. You will have rough days, but you will have some very positive days. Print off your snowball calculator so you can see how far you have come at any point, financially.
Most importantly, be proud of the positive progress as a family that you are making.
